What changes

Reconciliation that starts at the exceptions.

No balances to key in

Plaid covers around 10,000 US institutions, and any statement you upload gets read for you instead.

Exact matches, pre-selected

The AI Accountant selects every ledger entry that matches the statement, so review starts with what's left.

Missing entries drafted for you

Anything on the statement but missing from your books comes back drafted with payee, category, and class. Create it in one click.

Any statement period

Reconcile statements with any start and end date, including custom and mid-month cycles.

Bank and credit card accounts

Every bank account. Every card.

Checking, savings, treasury, and credit card accounts all follow the same path: connect through Plaid, which covers around 10,000 US institutions, or upload a statement. Every account carries its own balances, cleared items, and variance.

Types of reconciliation

Not every account ties out the same way.

Bank accounts and credit cards each have their own rules. The AI Accountant applies the right one instead of treating every account like a checking account.
Checking & savings

Cleared-item reconciliation against the statement.

  • Ending balance pulled from Plaid or read off the statement
  • Deposits and payments cleared item by item against the ledger
  • Uncleared checks and deposits in transit carried forward as outstanding
Credit cards

A liability to tie out, not a pile of expenses.

  • Charges and credits matched to the statement for the billing cycle
  • The payment to the card recorded as a transfer, never a duplicate expense
  • Closing card balance tied to the liability on the balance sheet
Treasury

Movements in, yield out, balance tied.

  • Sweeps between operating and treasury matched on both sides
  • Interest and dividends posted and agreed to the statement
  • Period-end balance tied to the ledger, ready for the balance sheet
Combined statements

One PDF, two accounts, both reconciled.

Plenty of banks put checking and savings on a single statement, which usually means splitting the file by hand. The AI Accountant reads the whole document, works out which account each section and transaction belongs to, and reconciles both in one pass.

How it works

Connect. Match. Reconcile.

Connect an account once and the AI Accountant does the matching every month after that.

Connect or upload

Link the account through Plaid, or upload a statement if your bank isn't supported.

AI reads and matches

The AI Accountant pulls the balances, pre-selects exact matches, and flags what needs a look.

Review and reconcile

Clear the exceptions, confirm the variance is $0, and click Reconcile. In July, about 3 in 4 accounts needed nothing more than that click.

The exceptions

Timing gaps and missing entries, sorted.

Entries that haven't cleared the bank yet stay unselected as timing differences. Anything on the statement but missing from your books comes back as a drafted entry, payee, category, and class filled in, ready to create in one click.

One reconciliation, two systems

Reconcile in Zeni. Done in QuickBooks.

Once an account is reconciled on the Zeni dashboard, you don't repeat it in QuickBooks Online. Zeni completes the matching reconciliation there and attaches your uploaded statement, so the audit trail lives in both places.

Evidence, not promises

Every close ends with a reconciliation report.

Reconcile an account and Zeni files the report automatically: statement and ledger balances, the cleared items behind them, what the AI matched versus what a person did, outstanding items, the attached statement, and who signed off, with the date.

For your auditors

Hand over a report per account, per period, instead of rebuilding one from screenshots at year end.

For your board and investors

Cash questions in diligence come with the reconciliation that backs them up.

For your own controls

A documented monthly review with the reviewer named on every account, not a spreadsheet someone remembers doing.

Working together

Ask about a transaction on the transaction.

Anyone with workspace access can start a thread on a transaction, bill, vendor, or report, @mention a teammate or your Zeni accountant, and attach the backup. Resolve it when it's settled and the question, the answer, and the file stay on the record.

Built for audit

Fast, and careful about it.

The AI Accountant never edits a closed period and touches each transaction only once. It leaves what your team already approved alone: bills, reimbursements, payroll journals, and card spend synced from tools like Ramp or Brex.

Part of AI Month-End Close

The step that makes every other number true.

Reconciliation runs inside AI Month-End Close, after categorization, receipt matching, recurring journal entries, and flux analysis. When the bank ties out, the Month-End Insights, reports, and AI CFO answers built on those numbers are ones you can defend.

The whole close

What the AI Accountant handles before you reconcile.

Cleans up vendors

Finds and merges duplicate vendors and fixes vendor mismatches.

Corrects categories

Flags miscategorized transactions across sources and fixes class tags by department, entity, or location.

Drafts journal entries

Prepares entries for prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets, then keeps recurring schedules current.

Runs flux analysis

Explains period-over-period swings by category, vendor, and employee reimbursements.

Matches receipts

Pairs receipts to transactions and surfaces the ones still missing backup.

Learns your books first

Checks your own history before Zeni's model trained across 500+ customer ledgers.

Ready when you are

Tie out the bank. Skip the scramble.
