Start to finish, the Zeni onboarding process takes about 30 minutes to complete via a Zoom video call. We'll request you share your screen, and then walk you through the various points of read-only account access required to get Zeni up and running (e.g. banks, credit cards, Quickbooks Online, payroll provider, payment processor, etc.).
Once we have access to your accounts and make any recommended updates to your chart of accounts, your Zeni Dashboard will be activated — typically within one week of joining Zeni. Your Zeni Finance Concierge email is set-up prior to onboarding and ready for use immediately.
The Zeni Finance Concierge is fully-staffed Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm PST. We aim to complete requests within two hours, or will otherwise respond with an anticipated timeline for completion.
Zeni is designed to integrate with your entire finance stack, featuring out-of-the-box integrations with the banks and tools used widely by startups and small businesses.

Every customer is onboarded to Zeni as a unique tenant, with data securely siloed in separate data partitions in the cloud and never shared with anyone else. We encrypt your data over the wire before its even stored in the database so ensure it is ultra-secure at all times.
All Zeni employees are full-time and have signed a non-disclosure agreement at the onset of their employment with Zeni. None of our bookkeeping and accounting work is outsourced, and we do not hire consultants or part-time workers.
Zeni customers can access Zeni via email or the mobile web and online Zeni Dashboard. Each customer is assigned a unique email alias to communicate directly with its dedicated Zeni finance team, where questions and requests can be exchanged. Additionally, all Zeni customers have access to their Zeni Dashboard on desktop and mobile web, where they can access real-time financial insights and data.
Zeni customers' books are closed and delivered within one week of month end. Each customer receives a CFO Insights Report via email which summarizes all your key financial metrics (burn, runway, cash in the bank, operating expenses, cost of sales, revenues, etc.), with your formal monthly P&L Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement attached.

Yes! We review, update, and fix every transaction categorization on a daily basis, and ensure receipts are properly attached within your accounting software. Zeni also manages all receipts for you in a central Google Drive location.
The Zeni Finance Team is made up of Accountants, Chartered Accountants (CA) Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Tax Advisors and Chief Financial Officers (CFO) with a collective 100+ years of experience. We spend as much time as needed to get the job done. We do not charge clients on an hourly basis, so all of the time spent servicing your business — human, or otherwise — is included in the flat monthly subscription fee.
No. Zeni offers tax services for a flat annual fee starting at $2499/year. The Zeni Tax plan includes federal, state, and local tax returns, R&D Tax Credit, and support of ongoing tax and compliance needs throughout the year.
Yes, Zeni Tax Plan customers are eligible to request their R&D tax credit. Zeni will charge a 20% fee on R&D Tax Credits reported on the tax return.
