Head of Finance Operations - US

Zeni is on a mission to build the world's most advanced CFO-As-A-Service platform, built from the ground up using AI and ML. What we're looking for

Zeni is seeking a practiced and ambitious finance leader to scale its U.S. financial operations from its current initial structure to a best-in-class financial services operation. This role is responsible for leading Zeni’s U.S.-based client-facing finance team – from developing and implementing programs and processes to drive operational success, to hiring, training, and retaining top talent. 


The Zeni Head of Financial Operations role will report to Zeni’s CFO - Customer Success. This role is a significant undertaking, and it is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience playing a key role in leading process development, motivating client-facing teams, and driving financial performance across Zeni’s customer portfolio. This person has experience in scaling a portfolio of customers before and is looking to join a Series B company in a leadership role. The Head of Finance Operations will be supported by a great team that has strong industry and product knowledge, low turnover, and diverse experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the delivery of Zeni’s bookkeeping and accounting subscription service plans, to provide a complete package of finance solutions to a growing customer base
  • Design and develop processes, practice guides, and best practices for providing a streamlined, consistent experience across all Zeni customers and internal finance teams
  • Build and manage a team of financial controllers in the U.S., providing consistent mentorship and day-to-day direction
  • Develop employee onboarding and training plans for new and existing financial controllers
  • Partner with India-based counterparts – VP of Finance Operations and Head of Operations – to streamline processes across both U.S. and India-based finance teams, including managing resource allocation and client profitability
  • Be the point of escalation for finance related customers issues; jump on calls with customers as required to streamline issues
  • Partner with Director of Customer Success to increase customer happiness and retention
  • Assist Sales Team in selling, scoping and advising on which Zeni service plans may be needed to develop our customer’s finance system roadmap
  • Report financial metrics, time tracking and KPIs to executive team on a consistent basis


  • CPA with 10+ years of experience in accounting, finance and finance operations
  • Proven experience of successfully building and running a team of 7+ financial controllers is required
  • Big 4 or equivalent experience in an accounting or professional service firm with focus on managing multiple customer demands
  • Experience managing customer account scope, structure and profitability
  • Experience in motivating Controllers to recommend and sell additional advisory services
  • Knowledge of and competence in using modern, best-in-class bookkeeping and accounting tools and technologies
